Our Mission
Cornell BioVentures is a student-run organization at Cornell University dedicated to training the next generation of life sciences investors and founders.
We operate through rigorous, first-principles analysis of drug development, capital markets, and clinical outcomes. Our dual-arm structure gives members exposure to both the public and private sides of life sciences finance — an unusually comprehensive training ground that few programs can match.
Members graduate with a fluency that spans mechanistic biology, clinical trial design, regulatory science, and financial analysis — the four disciplines that define investment success in biopharmaceuticals.

We start with the biology — always. No investment thesis is formed without deep understanding of the underlying science, mechanism, and clinical evidence.

We build conviction from scratch. Rather than relying on consensus or sell-side narratives, we develop independent, probabilistic views grounded in primary data.

Intellectual Humility
Drug development is uncertain. We embrace uncertainty, model it explicitly, and remain willing to update our views as new data emerges.

Our Investment Committee process is adversarial by design — theses are tested, challenged, and refined through peer debate before any conviction is declared.

Most finance training programs don't go here. Cornell BioVentures does. We train students to read primary literature, interpret endpoint design, evaluate therapeutic differentiation, and build investment theses where market expectations diverge from biological reality.

Members engage directly with clinical trial publications, mechanistic studies, and regulatory filings — not summaries or sell-side reports.

Understanding OS vs PFS vs ORR, hazard ratio construction, interim analysis design, and what endpoints actually predict approval success.
